Disney+ Canada to get Marvel's Netflix shows on Mar. 16

Source: Sarah Shatz/Netflix

If you're still catching up with Marvel's Netflix shows, you've probably heard the news that it was leaving the streaming service on March 1. You don't have to binge-watch to finish them all. The shows—like DaredevilJessica Jones, etc.—are coming to Disney+ in Canada on March 16. Engadget has confirmed the update, with the news already a long time coming.

Disney announced back in 2017 it was ditching Netflix to work on its streaming service. Netflix cancelled all its Marvel originals in 2019. And we've been seeing some of the former Netflix characters pop up in Marvel franchises like Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home

Meta plans to offer more monetization options for Facebook Reels creators

Source: Meta

Meta has rolled out Facebook Reels globally. And if you're a creator in Canada, the US, and Mexico that's part of Meta's in-stream ads program, you're eligible to monetize your publicly-shared Reels with ads. By mid-March, the company plans to expand these tests to creators in nearly all countries where in-stream ads are available.

The company promises to build direct monetization options in Facebook Reels to help creators earn more. One way is through its Facebook Reels Overlay Ads, which all creators in Canada, the US, and Mexico are getting access to (other countries to follow in the coming weeks).

Twitter might soon let you un-tag yourself in threads

Source: Jane Manchun Wong

Don't want to get notified in a Twitter thread anymore? You might be able to leave that conversation in the future. App researcher Jane Manchun Wong spotted a feature that allows you to leave conversation threads you don't want to be part of anymore. The "Leave this conversation" feature will let you un-tag yourself without letting the other participants know you aren't in the conversation anymore. They might still notice, given that they can't type in your handle. It'll just be displayed as plain text after you press the button. No one else will be able to tag you again in the same thread. That doesn't mean you won't be able to see the conversation. That's still something you can do. It's unclear if this feature will get a wide release. But if it does, is it something you find helpful?

Instagram wants you to spend more time on the app, increases minimum time for Daily Limit notifications

Photo by Prateek Katyal on Unsplash

Instagram has quietly updated the lowest time limit for its Daily Limit feature. From 10 minutes, the minimum time is now set at 30 minutes. Daily Limit notifications send reminders that you've spent too much time on the app.

The increase seems to come when parent company Meta reported slowing growth. And that isn't great for its platform. So, it looks like a wise decision for the company to do it for its bottom line. But if you've been trying to curb your Instagram use, you might have to resort to other apps or services that can cut you off from it.
