Apple AirPods 3 still expected to launch this 2021

Photo by Daniel Romero on Unsplash

While Apple didn't unveil the AirPods 3 during its recent California Streaming iPhone 13 launch, the company is still expected to release the new wireless buds this year. At least, that's what the rumours claim. A report from Digitimes claims that Apple has finalized its design, and the AirPods 3 are already in production. We can supposedly expect to see these buds before the year ends with a slightly higher cost than the existing models.

What could justify the higher price? Apple will reportedly include motion sensors for fitness tracking, which will also integrate with Apple Fitness Plus. The new AirPods will reportedly get noise reduction, support for spatial audio, and improved battery life. And these might also get shorter stems than the previous generation AirPods. For now, Apple, as expected, isn't corroborating the rumours, but we'll keep you posted for updates.

Tesla axes referral programs for cars, solar panels

You can no longer get Supercharging miles from your referrals of Tesla's vehicles and solar panels. A notice on the company's site states: "vehicle products and solar panels are no longer eligible for Referral awards" as of September 18. The only active referral program is for the Solar Roof, which gives referrers monetary rewards of up to US$500 and free Powerwalls.

With these programs axed, it isn't clear if the company will fulfill some of its bigger promises to referrers. Those promised Roadsters still haven't gotten them, and people have been complaining in online forums about not receiving free Powerwalls and other rewards from years ago.
