Razer Phone gets Android 8.1 Oreo update

At the end of last month, Razer announced it was bringing Android Oreo to Razer Phone users. And now it seems that time has come. Android 8.1 is rolling out now to Razer Phone users. It’s rolling out slowly over the coming weeks so if it hasn’t landed on your device yet, you just need to wait for it a bit. According to Razer, what you can expect from the update include a “cleaner visual design, under-the-hood improvements for a better overall experience, Dolby Atmos app improvements, and support for the Netflix widget.” The update will also include “major” security patches and bug fixes.

Essential Phone gets Android Oreo 8.1 update

Essential is wasting no time bringing the latest Android Oreo build to its users. The latest update with build no. OPM1.180104.141 brings the latest Oreo 8.1 version. This comes with April security patches, which the Pixel got a few days ago; support for Bluetooth 5.0, which is more an update on the software side as the hardware has supported the feature since launch; modem stability and other bug fixes; performance improvements; and “proper handling” of external game controllers.

Sony brings Android Oreo to XA1 family

Sony has a pretty good track record of bring the latest version of Android to a lot of its devices. And it extends that to a few devices that were launched a year ago. The XA1, XA1 Plus, and XA1 Ultra are all being updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. And according to Xperia Blog, some XA1 users are already seeing the update and noticing improved performance already. But one downside to the update is that these phones will lose its blue light filter. The over-the-air update has a build number of 48.1.A.0.116 with February 5 security patch level. There is no word if it’s getting Project Treble.
