ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED is a new folding laptop/tablet hybrid

Source: ASUS

ASUS is also one of those computer manufacturers that like to experiment with unusual form factors. So, its new attempt with a foldable isn't too surprising. The company unveils its first stab at a foldable display with the new ZenBook 17 Fold OLED. It's a 17.3-inch laptop with a foldable OLED screen, making it much easier to fit into smaller bags.

There are numerous ways to use the laptop, similar to how the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold works. You can use it as a giant tablet and prop it up with a kickstand or fold it sideways at a 90-degree angle to create a small clamshell. When unfolded, its dimensions are around 4:3 for the 17.3-inch screen, and when folded, it's around a 3:2 12.3-inch device. You can also think about it as two 12.5-inch 1,920 x 1,280 screens side by side or one 2,560 x 1,920 display.

ASUS ROG Flow Z13 is the brand's newest powerful gaming tablet

Source: ASUS

ASUS brought its newest and most powerful gaming tablet to CES 2022. The ROG Flow Z13 is a 13.4-inch slate with a built-in kickstand. The most remarkable parts of this tablet are what powers it, making it a compact, high-end gaming laptop. It runs on an Intel Core i9-12900H 45W processor and NVIDIA's RTX 3050 Ti with 40W of total graphics power, even if it's just a 12mm-thick tablet. It also has fast DDR5 RAM and PCIe 4.0 storage.

While the Z13 is a new product, it gets the ROG Flow X13's most remarkable feature: support for an external GPU enclosure for faster, better graphics. It supports the ASUS XG Mobile eGPU kit so that you can connect the RTX 3080 or AMD's Radeon RX 6850M XT (a new addition for 2022) via its proprietary port. It connects directly to the card with a PCIe 3.0 connection with eight lanes for data throughput.

ASUS ROG unveils new Zephyrus Duo 16 dual-screened laptop

Source: ASUS ROG

ASUS's ongoing love affair with dual-screened devices is something we continue to get behind. The newest iteration of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is another excellent example. This laptop gets a 16-inch main display that comes with two display options and a secondary 14.1-inch touchscreen with a resolution of up to 4K.

When we talk about the display options for the primary screen, you get the Nebula HDR QHD-resolution panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 165Hz refresh rate. It has a mini-LED backlight with a peak brightness of 1,100 nits, 100% P3 colour space support, and a DisplayHDR 1000 certification. The other option is a ROG-exclusive Dual Spec panel co-developed with BOE. It allows you to choose between viewing at 4K with a 120Hz refresh rate or 1080p at 240Hz. The discrete graphics bypass the integrated graphics for reduced latency with a MUX switch.

Samsung starts manufacturing 14-inch 90Hz OLED displays

Samsung has begun manufacturing 90Hz OLED displays, which you'll first see on ASUS' newest laptops - the ZenBook 14X Pro and Vivobook Pro 14X. The 14-inch panel has a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. Its release is significantly delayed as Samsung announced it was supposed to arrive in March 2021. But with the ongoing pandemic, we aren't surprised that it took the company a bit more time to manufacture the display.
