Review: BlackBerry PRIV

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The BlackBerry PRIV is a greatest hits effort that encapsulates many of BlackBerrys strengths and innovations into a singular device. Not only is this the most compelling Android smartphone I’ve tried this year, it is also the most versatile device out there.

It’s not surprising that BlackBerry has gone all-in with Android. While the company continues to stress they are still dedicated to BB10 (with a significant software upgrade promised for 2016), BlackBerry had really been flirting with Android since it launched the BB10-powered Z10 in 2013.

Review: Google Nexus 5X

Video: Windows 10 Continuum demoed on a Lumia 950

By Gadjo C. Sevilla

One of the most compelling features of the new Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL is that they can function as desktop PCs running Windows 10 provided they're connected to Microsoft's Display Dock. I got to see this feature demoed firsthand earlier this evening during a Microsoft Device Night where a Lumia 950 was tethered to two monitors, a keyboard and a mouse.

When launching the Continuum app on Windows 10 Phone, the Lumia projects a full Windows 10 desktop experience on to the monitor. Once connected, the display of the Lumia can be used like a trackpad plus you can also access phone functions (i.e. calls, messages, certain apps) without disturbing the desktop. You can even launch desktop versions of Office applications and work on them just as you would on a notebook or desktop.

ASUS makes ZenFone 2 Laser available as an unlocked option

I was very impressed by the ASUS ZenFone 2, which offered a large haul of features in an affordable and practical smartphone. ASUS has followed this up with the ZenFone 2 Laser. the premium phone with an excellent camera, dual active SIM, expandable storage and removable battery. The latest addition to the ZenFone 2 lineup features an ergonomic design for greater comfort and a 5.5-inch 1080p display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for unprecedented damage protection.

The ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE551KL) will available for $269 at Staples, Canada Computers, NCIX and Memory Express in November.
