First impressions on the Surface 3

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

It took Microsoft three tries but it finally built the best possible 2-in-1 PC for consumers with the Surface 3. Microsoft repeated many of the strokes and flourishes that made the Surface Pro 3 arguably one of the best 12-inch notebook/tablet combinations out there, and by jettisoning the ill-received Windows RT for an ultimately more useful Window 8 and Windows 10 OS, gave users the device they've been wanting.

Review: Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

The Idol 3 is designed to be able to run in reversible mode. This means that thanks to the dual speakers and mics you can pick it up any way you want and the display and even the front-facing camera will adjust to fit whichever way you are holding the phone.

I’ve been using the new Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 and I am impressed. It is one of the thinnest and lightest 5.5-inch phablet category smartphones I’ve used and it runs Android Lollipop like a champ.

While Alcatel’s been known for cheap, practical smartphones, they’ve outdone themselves with the Idol 3, which offers many flagship features in a sleek and impressive package. The Alcatel Idol 3 hits some of the major hallmarks that users look for in a flagship device and it does so at a fraction of the price of the competition.

Apple Watch begins shipping, Watch Store opens with 3,000 apps

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Today is a huge day for anyone who was lucky or fast enough to order their Apple Watch two weeks ago. Apple begins shipping Watch orders today and those new users will be greeted with over 3,000 Watch specific apps in the device's built-in store. Apple Watch is still not available for in-store purchases and if you preorder today, it will likely ship in in June (depending on model availability). So the grey market demand for this thing will be insane.

It seems that Apple's gambit of showing the Watch SDK to developers early has paid of with tremendous response from existing and new developers who are looking to make their services accessible from the new wearable. Journalists have been deluged with releases from app manufacturers promoting their new applications. For a good idea of what it is like for Canadians to use Apple Watch check out Mike Yawney's post on 25 days with the Apple Watch and what I used it for - Hit jump for some of the Watch apps available in Canada today.
