Special Report: The design story behind the Moto 360

Text and photos by Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Chicago: Motorola is no stranger to the wearables market. It actually pioneered the health tracker segment a few years ago with their MOTOACTV  device, which focused mostly on music playback, health and exercise. Moto 360 sells out from Motorola.com, Best Buy in US and the Google Play Store

Well, that was fast. The first batch of Moto 360 devices which went up for sale or pre-order in the US have already been claimed. It seems pent up demand for Motorola's circular wearable, which launched yesterday was quite strong and everyone who might have been on the fence about Android Wear devices decided this device was the one to go for. Not only did the Moto 360 sell out of Motorola's online store, Google Play's store and even on Best Buy's US website. Can we expect the same amount of buyer enthusiasm when Moto 360 comes to Canada this fall? We'll have to wait and see.

A tiny, next generation Bluetooth headset that's full of innovative sensors, can manage voice controls to accompanying Moto X (2nd Gen) models as well as work as a regular Bluetooth headset for any smartphone by using capacitive controls. Anyone who has watched the Spike Jonze movie "Her" will realize that a voice activated headset is one possible future interface for computing, Motorola believes this is the next step. Being relatively new, the Moto Hint isn't ready for release but we'll be following this development and will review the device once it becomes available
