Video: A look at Samsung's 6.3" Galaxy Mega 

Is bigger really better? That's a question that smartphone buyers will have to decide when the Samsung Galaxy Mega hits the market at the end of the month. The device has a 6.3-inch TFT screen and an interface that straddles the line between the smartphone and tablet OS. Samsung is aiming this squarely at students who may be torn between getting a smartphone or a tablet. Following the design of the Galaxy S 4, the Galaxy Mega features a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, an 8 megapixel camera and a whopping 3200 mAh Li-Ion battery.  The Mega is scheduled to come to Canadian carriers on August 29th.Check out the video above for more info.

Video: Google's Moto X demo and overview 

 

Coming to Canada this week on Rogers is the new Moto X. A Google smartphone designed with the user in mind. The video above shows off some of the device's functionality.  Moto X comes with a dual-core  1.7GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 10 megapixel camera. Stay tuned for a full review

Poll: HTC One is the Canadian Reviewer reader's choice for best smartphone

Our readers have spoken and voted on the HTC One as the best smartphone right now with 116 votes out of 370 (31.35% of the votes). Second is the iPhone 5 with 75 votes (20.27 % of the votes) which isn't bad at all for a model that is almost a year old. Third place was the Samsung Galaxy S4 (with 67 votes or 18.11 %). By choosing the HTC One, readers have shown that they are keen on quality materials, great functionality and features. HTC One and iPhone 5 also represent two of the best crafted handsets in the market today and this is clearly a priority with users. The innovation and feature set of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S4 scored big with readers as well.
