CD Projekt Red partners with Epic Games for the next 'Witcher' game

Source: CD Projekt Red

The next Witcher game is coming, but we can't say when it'll arrive. What we know now is The Witcher: A New Saga Begins will mark the game's shift from CD Projekt Red's REDengine to Epic Games' Unreal 5. CDPR says this game marks the "beginning of a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games." And that it "covers not only licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5." It will help with tailoring the engine for "open-world experiences."

As Kotaku pointed out, the last full Witcher game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, came out seven years ago. But it got regular updates, so the game was kept fresh. We aren't sure when the new saga will begin, and CDPR said it had "no further details regarding the game—such as a development time frame or release date."

The new 'Fortnite' crossover brings 'Uncharted' skins

To promote the film version of Uncharted, Epic Games is hosting an Uncharted crossover in Fortnite on February 17. It'll mark actor Tom Holland's second time in the game with a new skin of him portraying Uncharted's Nathan Drake. The original Nathan Drake character and Chloe Frazier will also be available in the movie and video game forms inside Fortnite.

Epic Games teased this collaboration late on Friday through a treasure hunt website. But leakers spotted code inside the game a few days before this, pointing towards an "Uncharted treasure map." The trailer you see above confirms the wearable outfits, but The Verge believes there will be other cosmetics as part of this collaboration. The Uncharted items will appear on Fortnite's item shop a day before the film is released.

'Fortnite' Chapter 3 gets new island, characters, revamped gameplay

Epic Games has officially launched the new chapter of Fortnite. The company shared the first trailer for the game's Chapter 3 and its first season, "Flipped." The focus is on the new island with a complete landscape overhaul—including chaotic, unpredictable weather—and new gameplay mechanics. There are new sliding and swinging mechanics to help you move and dodge faster. You can set up camps to help your squad heal and store items that persist between matches. It's now possible to earn XP beyond battle royale. And you can hold on to a Victory Crown if you keep winning.

The new season also brings in new characters. Unsurprisingly, there's Spider-Man, who works the best with the new swinging mechanic. But there's also Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Fortnite character The Foundation, and Gears of War's Marcus and Kait. If you were anticipating fresh content for Fortnite, then you finally have it.

'Rocket League Sideswipe' launches on Android, iOS

Epic Games and Psyonix have officially launched Sideswipe, the mobile version of Rocket League. The game was launched as a beta test in recent weeks. Now, this title brings its usual car soccer formula to all users on Android and iOS. The side-scrolling game offers 1v1 and 2v2 matches that last around two minutes. It uses touchscreen controls with different mechanics you can master to gain an edge against your competition. You can play matches in typical "soccar" or the basketball-inspired "Hoops."

Rocket League Sideswipe is free on both platforms, with in-app purchases for cosmetics and Rocket Pass. The game is now in "Pre-Season," but Psyonix says it'll release more details about Season 1 soon.
