Facebook brings 360-degree videos to your News Feed

If you want to experiment with 360-degree videos or want to see what creators are doing with this tool, Facebook is bringing the experience to your News Feed. When you’re using the web version of the social network, you can drag the video around with your mouse. And when you’re on your Android device, you just need to drag with your finger or just turn your device. If you move your device around, the 360-degree video will follow you as you turn. Some of the exclusive videos demonstrating this new feature come from the likes of Star Wars, GoPro, and LeBron James & Uninterrupted. The feature isn’t available on iOS yet but will be arriving in the coming months.

Facebook close to introducing dislike button

You’ve asked for it and now it’s almost here. Facebook is finally brining the “dislike” button to its social network. Mark Zuckerberg said the feature is close to shipping a test version of it. According to him, the thumbs down button won’t work the same way as Reddit’s down vote button. “That doesn’t seem like the kind of community that we want to create,” Zuckerberg said about Reddit. “You don’t want to go through the process of sharing some moment that was important to you in your day and have someone ‘downvote’ it.”

It took them a while to bring this feature because it was supposedly a “surprisingly complicated” feat for his engineers. He didn’t specify a definite release but the feature should be coming to the testers soon.

Facebook gives you more control over your News Feed

Facebook’s latest update is giving you more control over who and what you see on your News Feed. The social network is expanding the customization features to let you select who you’d want to see first on your News Feed. It’ll let you reconnect with people you’ve unfollow, although we’re not sure why you’d want to do that. And you can discover new pages to follow, too. You can find this settings under the “More” option near the settings menu. The update is available for both iOS and Android.

Meet Facebook’s hybrid virtual assistant M

It’s like Siri and Cortana but not really. It’s more than that. At least, that’s what Facebook claims its new virtual assistant is. It’s genderless for one, making it more like Google Now than the aforementioned assistants from Apple and Microsoft. Another is it doesn’t just purely rely on AI; there’s a human element to it at the moment. Called the M trainers, these people make the tough call when a request seems too complicated for the AI. The service is being tested now around the Bay Area in the US and Facebook hopes to bring this to all Messenger users.
