Get more mobile-friendly sites on tablet or smartphone with Google

Google thinks you should see more mobile-friendly sites when you search through your mobile devices. That’s why starting April 21, online sites with mobile versions will get higher placements in search result pages. And you’ll see these if you are using a mobile device. It will also parse information from indexed apps if you’re signed in and have them installed on your device. Google has been ranking points for sites with optimized pages for new devices so this change doesn’t come as a surprise. If you want to check if your company or personal mobile site works with Google, you can run it through this test from Google.

Movie search results on Google get Material Design makeover

Google has refreshed its movie search result pages to match Android Lollipop’s Material Design. Now, when you look up a movie by a particular celebrity, you will see movie posters. Material Design elements like popping animations, ripples, and sliding menus can be seen in this new look. When you select a specific movie, it’ll show other details like cast bios, trailer links, Rotten Tomato scores, and where to buy or rent the movie.

Google now tracks voice and mobile search history

Google is constantly updating your Account History page to get more information about what you use their products for. These are used to make suggestions for autocomplete as well as Google Now. But if this isn’t something you’d like them to track, you can opt out through your Account History page. From that page you will be able to pause or even just view your voice search history as well as other information from your smartphone and tablets. You just need to select “Manage history” to delete the stuff you don’t want to be seen.

Google integrates song lyrics into search results

Google’s making it easier for you to look up song lyrics. You just need to type in the song title and the word lyrics ([song title] lyrics). And then Google Search shows you the result right on the Search Results page. However, it seemed to be powered by Google Play, so if the lyrics aren’t in their database, then it might not show up properly. It hasn’t shown up on our browser yet but we’re pretty sure that will be coming our way soon.
