Facebook for iOS finally lets you switch between accounts

Managing multiple Facebook accounts is now easier for iOS users, too. Facebook has enabled account switching within Facebook’s family of apps (FB, Messenger, and Instagram, to be specific). So, if you manage multiple accounts, such as those for your business, you can just add the extra account you handle. You’ll be able to see the option under Profile > Switch Account > plus sign to add the new account.

Instagram to offer automatic translation of captions and profiles

In the coming month, Instagram plans to make it easier for you to understand captions on images that aren’t in English. The photo sharing service plans to automatically translate captions and profiles in your preferred language or the one set as default on your device. We believe the translate button will look rather similar to the one we see on Facebook, Instagram’s parent company. Offering this feature is necessary for the service as 80 percent of Instagram users live outside of the U.S. This will also help with discoverability on the service and bring more users together even if they don’t necessarily speak the same language. Instagram didn’t say yet how many languages will be supported when the feature rolls out.

You can now post photos to Instagram from other iOS apps

A feature that’s considered a long time coming is finally here. Instagram finally has a sharing extension added to its iOS app. Android users have long since had this ability to get photos from third-party photo apps. Gone are the days where you’d have to head straight to Instagram and scroll through your feed just to find that one photo you want to use. So now, any apps that support iOS’s official method for sharing can send the photo to Instagram for posting.

Instagram is ready to look like your Facebook news feed

It’s finally here and you can’t escape it. Instagram is rolling out the algorithm-based feed, meaning you won’t see posts in chronological order anymore. Instead, what you’ll see are posts based on factors such as popularity, your interests, and the like. This change was announced back in March but is now being implemented for all users this month. And it was met with a lot of resistance, especially with users that worry their posts won’t be seen because of the changes. Instagram claims in a blog post that the users who now see the algorithm-based feed tend to be more engaged on the platform.
