Nothing shines brighter with the Phone 2’s enhanced Glyph interface

Photo: Nothing

Nothing is revamping its unique Glyph interface for the upcoming Phone 2 smartphone. The phone is set to debut on July 11. YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) has shared an early hands-on video with the new smartphone that showcases the light interface embedded in the back of the phone, and the enhancements Nothing has made to it since last year’s Phone 1.

The Glyph interface has a similar pattern. But it now features more zones of LED lighting, which should enable it to offer more refined control of the phone’s lighting effects. The Phone 2 has almost triple the number of zones, with 33 zones compared to 12 on the Phone 1.

Nothing Ear (2) gets launched, costs CAD 199

Photo: Nothing

Nothing's second-generation Ear (2) wireless earbuds have officially launched. And they don't stray too far design-wise from their predecessor. The improvements are more on the internals, including connectivity and setup. The case is smaller and slimmer, and Nothing claims it's harder to scratch and damage than the Ear (1). The earbuds are IP54 rated, while the charging case is IP55 (which we don't get often). It only comes in white for now, though.

The company rearranged the microphones and antennae inside the buds to improve connectivity and stability, which was an issue some users reported in the original earbuds. The new mic position allows these buds to reduce wind noise on calls. Nothing says it improved sound detail with polyurethane components for clearer low frequencies and graphene for brighter highs. These buds also feature a dual chamber design for a wider soundstage.

Nothing Ear (2) to get LHDC Audio 5.0, IP54 rating

Photo: Nothing

Ahead of the March 22 launch, Nothing CEO Carl Pei revealed some new details about Nothing Ear (2). The new earbuds will support LHDC 5.0 (Low Latency HD Audio Codec), which means certified hi-res audio will play in its full glory. This codec streams higher-quality audio over Bluetooth. According to Pei, he contacted Spotify to update their library to LHDC. These buds will also have an IP54 rating, which is limited ingress protection against dust particles and water splashes.
