OnePlus 10 Pro will launch in January

Photo by Harry Shelton on Unsplash

It looks like OnePlus is switching up its product release timeline. OnePlus CEO and co-founder Pete Lau shared on Weibo, "OnePlus 10 Pro, see you in January." If this is true, this means OnePlus is moving up its flagship release from March/April to the start of the year.

According to rumours, OnePlus only plans to release one flagship phone instead of its usual base and pro models. Lau has confirmed that the OnePlus 10 devices will carry a new Android-13 based operating system the company is sharing with OPPO. Another thing we know is the upcoming handset will run on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. BBK Electronics own both brands, and they formally merged this year, which turned OnePlus into OPPO's sub-brand.

OnePlus 9 update brings improved camera performance, 'Hasselblad Xpan' setting

When OnePlus launched the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, the initial focus of its partnership with camera maker Hasselblad was in the software. So, while we wait for what the custom camera hardware will look like, we get updates like this new one that brings the Hasselblad look and feel to the stock camera apps on these phones.

Both devices are getting an Xpan Mode that replicates the look of Hasselblad's Xpan film cameras. It will include an aspect ratio of 65:21 and a very wide mode with two focal lengths (30mm and 45mm). When you preview a shot, there are frame lines you'll see through the lens of an XPan camera. And when you take a picture, there will be an animation of negative film developing. The update also brings two film simulation effects—color and black and white. Hasselblad is working on the latter with OnePlus.

This is what the OnePlus 9 Pro looks in white

OnePlus wanted to show off what the OnePlus 9 Pro looks like in white. But you can't buy this model. OnePlus shared this very limited edition option on Weibo to celebrate the company's eighth anniversary. It comes with "double layer AG technology," which prevents fingerprints from sticking to the phone's rear.

The company has no plans to sell this model, though. All we can do now is just admire it.
