Regular Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users start receiving Android Nougat update

Looks like Samsung is sticking to the January 17 rollout of the Android 7.0 update for its users—at least for those in China and the UK. Owners of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in said countries have started to see 1.2GB updates heading to their handsets. And this rollout isn’t limited to beta testers. January 17 was the estimated date for the European release of the update so we’re expecting Android Nougat to make its way to Galaxy S7 devices from other regions soon.

There is a report from China, though, claiming a beta version of the app is still being released in the country (despite beta being closed) and it seems to be causing some issues. Whether this is affecting the rollout in the UK or the global release of the update isn’t clear at the moment.

Samsung Galaxy S7 to officially get Android 7.1 next month

Samsung has closed its Galaxy S7 Nougat beta program to make way for the official release of the latest Android operating system version. At the moment, those who took part of the beta will not be able to leave individual feedback related to “Error report” and “Suggestion” within the app. If you want to leave feedback, it’ll have to be via “community” from now on. Samsung is targeting to release Android 7.1.1 for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge as soon as it can in the coming month so better keep your eyes peeled for the update.

There’s a glossy black version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge

Samsung has not been shy about following in the footsteps of Apple (the copying itself is something quite common in the industry itself). This time, the 128GB version of its Galaxy S7 edge flagship gets its own special glossy black version that will be available in “select markets” starting December 9. Samsung hasn’t said yet which markets and how much it will be going for but this “Black Pearl” variant won’t be coming to the Galaxy S7.

Adding this option, the S7 edge is now available in Blue Coral, Pink Gold, White Pearl, Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium. Not all colors are available in all markets, though.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge get Android Nougat through beta program

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are finally getting the Android Nougat treatment, kind of. Samsung announced that users can access Google’s latest software update via the Galaxy Beta Program. It gives us hope that the full version of the operating system is coming soon. Aside from being limited to beta users, it is currently only available to users in the US, UK, Korea, and soon China.

If you’re in any of these countries you can apply for the program by downloading the Galaxy Beta Program app or the Samsung Members app. The program is on a first-come, first-served basis and spots are reportedly running out so it might be best to apply as soon as you can.
