Samsung working on wearable sensor for stroke detection

Hoping to lessen disabilities and casualties caused by strokes, a group of engineers from the Samsung Creativity Lab are working on a wearable sensor to detect strokes and let people know that they need to go in for treatment. Those with stroke symptoms usually put off going to the doctor because they aren’t familiar with the signs. They call the prototype Early Detection Sensor & Algorithm Package. The head-worn sensor can monitor brainwaves via smartphone and tablet and predict the probability of an oncoming stroke. It can even track neurological health, stress, anxiety, and sleep patterns. There is no indication though that the prototype will reach mass production though. It would be good if it will though.

Samsung tipped to be using own camera module for S6

It looks like Samsung will be parting ways with Sony for its smartphone module, if rumours are to be believed that is. Samsung is reportedly going to use its own module for the 20-megapixel rear camera of its upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship. It will have optical image stabilization as well. We wouldn’t know though if it has the same image quality as the Sony modules, and if the rumour is true. We just have to wait a bit until Mobile World Congress to find out the truth.

Samsung to offer PlayStation Now on 2015 Smart TVs

Samsung and Sony don’t usually play nice. Unless, it’ll benefit both of them. At the upcoming CES 2015, we will be seeing Samsung’s new range of Smart TVs to have support for PlayStation Now. It was announced before Christmas but the actual products will be on showcase at the tech show.

PlayStation Now on Samsung should work like an app as well that connect’s to Sony’s Gakai-powered games service. North American consumers are expected to be part of the rollout of these new TVs this year.
