Sonos is gearing up to launch its next-generation smart speakers. The Verge reports that it'll be called Era 300 and Era 100. The flagship Era 300 is reportedly built to showcase spatial audio music tracks and Dolby Atmos content. But both will feature a completely new look compared to existing Sonos products.

You can reportedly expect the "richest fidelity" on a single speaker from Sonos with the Era 300. It's likely to offer USB-C line-in, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and possibly Bluetooth playback. Less is known about the Era 100, but it's expected to have an Era 100 SL model without built-in voice mics. It could end up being a Sonos One successor with up-firing Dolby Atmos support.

Sonos starts bringing Trueplay EQ to the latest iPhones

Sonos hasn't brought its custom EQ software to the iPhone 14 or 14 Pro when it first came out. But now, it looks like Trueplay has finally made its way to the newest iPhones. Trueplay on many Sonos speakers requires compatible iOS devices to work. And now, iPhone 14 owners can take advantage of the feature. It is still listed as coming to the iPhone 14/14 Pro, but 9to5Mac has spotted it in the wild. They claim the feature even works on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Sonos and Ikea have a new addition to their collaborative Symfonisk product lineup. This time, it's a new floor-standing lamp speaker that will come to Ikea stores and website starting January for US$260 (around CA$354). The design resembles the second-generation Symfonisk lamp speaker but with longer legs that extend down to a circular base. This new speaker lamp comes with a bamboo lampshade, but you can buy replacement designs using different textures and materials.

Sonos delays release of its next product

Existing Sonos Sub (Source: Sonos)

Sonos won't be releasing a rumoured product this year. Following bumpy third-quarter earnings last week, the company announced it decided to push back a product launch initially pencilled in for the near future. As The Verge noted, that was most likely the long-awaited Sonos Sub Mini, a more affordable subwoofer than its existing US$749 Sub.

The Sub Mini was spotted in the FCC in the US; given the typical timeline between filing and a consumer release, the device was due a launch soon. But Sonos spokesperson Erin Pategas confirmed with The Verge that an "anticipated product" launching from Q4 '22 is coming out in the first quarter of next year.
