Report claims Spotify and Uber will announce partnership

While Taylor Swift and Spotify won’t ever be getting back together, Spotify looks to be forging a new partnership with ridesharing service Uber. This supposed partnership will allow you to select what Spotify playlist to listen to when you’re in an Uber car. Invites were reportedly sent to the media for a Monday conference call with a “special guest partner” and a “first-of-its-kind partnership.” The invite shows a music staff as seen above.

We’re not sure how the setup will be and if a separate app will be needed to make this happen but we will keep you posted on updates. Both companies refused to comment about this report.

You can now control the music you play on Spotify’s desktop app right from your Android or iOS device. You just have to make sure you have the latest version of Spotify on your desktop and your smartphone or tablet. Now, just select Now Playing bar and tap on the connect icon at the bottom right. And then you just select your computer and then you’re all set to control your music remotely.

Spotify brings its semi-new look to iPad

It took a while but iPad version of Spotify now has the same look as those you can find on the desktop client and iPhone version of the app. It has the same dark theme, rounded iconography, and refreshed typography. They also added the Your Music feature into the app because Spotify claims tablets are one of the most popular platforms for discovering, curating, and saving music. iPad users can start curating their music from their tablets and have those sync with your other devices.

Spotify adds CarPlay support

With Spotify making its official debut here, here’s one more device you can use it on: Apple’s CarPlay units. Spotify updated its iOS app to add support for CarPlay system. So, once these units arrive, you’d get access to millions of songs right from your car’s dashboard. It joins music apps like Stitcher, iHeartRadio, and Apple’s Beats Music that support the automotive version of iOS.

The iOS version of Spotify also now supports Quebecois and Swedish and fixed a few bugs for iOS 8.
