'The Way Back' will be coming to digital platforms earlier

More and more films are being made available online as early as possible, especially since public gatherings (like going to movie theatres) are being banned because of COVID-19. One of the latest films to be hitting video-on-demand platforms early is Warner Bros.' The Way Back. The Ben Affleck-led film will be available digitally on March 24. The critically-acclaimed sports drama hit theatres in the US on March 6.

"With audiences largely unable to view films in theatrical release under current circumstances, we have decided to provide the alternative of early digital ownership of our currently released titles to people looking for great entertainment options," Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner's film group, said in a statement. "So, while we remain big fans of the theatrical experience and hope audiences are able to return to cinemas in the near future, we understand that these are challenging times and offering this option simply makes sense."

Google will not release new features to Chrome, Chrome OS to maintain stability

With millions of people adjusting to working from home, including Google's own employees, the company decided it won't be releasing new features to both Chrome and Chrome OS to make sure the software will run without any issues. Chrome's development team also acknowledged in a tweet that its "adjusted work schedules" also influenced the decision to stop releasing upcoming versions of both the browser and its operating system.

The tweet also said, "Our goal is to ensure they continue to be stable, secure, and reliable for anyone who depends on them." They also emphasized that they will prioritize security updates. It makes sense to pause upcoming releases because unforeseen bugs might cause problems that might not be easy to resolve. Users don't need the additional stress these problems might cause.

Samsung unveils Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Edition

Samsung, as an official partner of the Olympic Games, releases limited-edition versions of its current flagships to gift the athletes who've participated in the Olympics. But this year's variant will go on sale to the public, too. To honor the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for this summer, we're getting the Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G Olympic Edition. It will come in Matte Gold, and it will be available through Japanese carrier and Samsung's partner, NTT Docomo.

The Olympic Edition handset comes with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for JPY 114,840 (around CA$1,511). The non-Olympic variant comes in Cosmic Grey and costs JPY 113,000 (around CA$1,487). Those who want to pre-order can head to Docomo's website. The first shipments are scheduled to be released in June. With COVID-19 threatening the possibility of the games happening, this might make this handset a rare Collector's Edition variant.
