YouTube on mobile to integrate with Android 10's dark theme soon

YouTube already has a dark mode that you can toggle within the mobile app. But soon it'll integrate with the system-wide dark theme Android 10 is offering. Some users see the change in their devices already, but it hasn't come to all users yet. YouTube is rolling it out the update on the server-side, so you can't force the update with an APK.

The change renames the "Dark theme" option in the settings to "Appearances." Within that option, you now get to choose "Use device theme," "Light theme," and "Dark theme." If you opt for the device theme option, YouTube's look will match what system-wide option you've set for your device.

Tesla reportedly acquires Ontario-based battery manufacturing company Hibar Systems

A recent report came out claiming one of Tesla’s latest acquisitions is a battery manufacturing company based in Richmond Hill, Ontario. According to public records, Tesla bought Hibar Systems sometime between July and October 2019. Before July 2019, Tesla Canada didn’t have any subsidiary companies. But recent federal documents show Hibar as a company that it owns. Neither company has commented on the matter yet. As for a reason for the acquisition, we can assume, based on Hibar’s business, that it has something to do with the battery manufacturing process.

CBC launches music and podcast app CBC Listen

In an age where Spotify and Apple Music exist, broadcasting company CBC thought it fit to launch its own music and podcast app called CBC Listen. If you want access to all kinds of Canadian content, this might be an app worth checking out. It has over 200 free music playlists and all of CBC’s podcasts and live radio content. Just as you can expect with other streaming apps, you can “Favourite” content to listen to later. It also lets you download podcasts for offline listening, which unfortunately doesn’t extend to music as well. If you want to play your content on a connected speaker, the app supports both AirPlay and Chromecast. CBC Listen is a free, ad-supported app. It’s available on both iOS and Android as well as through a web app.
