Runkeeper blames 'buggy experience' for killing its Wear OS app

Runkeeper is the latest company to retire its Wear OS app. The reason? They claim the app was buggy for most of its users and so they're just opting to take it out of the app starting with version 9.13, which will come out in the next few weeks. The company said in an email to its users that they "want to provide the best tracking experience possible to everyone who uses the Runkeeper app, and we're just not able to offer it on Wear OS by Google at this time." In a follow-up message, the company said it preferred to focus its "limited resources" on other tasks. Runkeeper developers also mentioned that only a small number of its members used the app, so they opted to just get rid of it.

Apple Watch Series 5 might be launched this fall

We might be getting the newest version of the Apple Watch sooner than we think. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's new research note, the Apple Watch Series 5 is launching this fall. There haven't been any leaks about the smartwatch so far, which is unusual for an Apple product. But Kuo has a track record of being more right than wrong, so we're thinking we might see Watch Series 5 launch alongside the iPhone 11 at Apple's big fall event. The company is expected to launch the new iPhone on September 10th.

The new Apple Watch will reportedly have a new ceramic casing design. What isn't clear right now is if it'll just be for one model, or if it'll apply to all Apple Watch models. It's also being rumoured that Japan Display will supply the OLED displays for the new Apple Watch. The company will reportedly increase production starting with 15-20 percent of the orders in 2019, and up to 70-80 percent in 2021. By next year, the Watch Series 6 is expected to adopt microLED displays.

If you own Surface Pro 6 and Surface Book 2, now might not be the best time to update your devices. Some owners of these two products have been experiencing CPU throttling and Wi-Fi issues. The company is said to be working on fixes for both problems. Some users have complained of CPU speeds slowing down with processors getting throttled all the way down to just 400MHz. But it doesn't seem clear what's causing the problem. According to TechRepublic, this could be related to an Intel CPU flag being locked on by mistake, causing the processor to throttle speeds because it thinks it's at a thermal limit.

As for the Wi-Fi issue, some users have complained that the latest Marvel Wi-Fi driver, which was supplied with Microsoft's Surface firmware updates on August 1st, isn't letting devices to connect to some 5GHz wireless networks. The Verge reports that they've experienced this issue on a Surface Pro 6 device and the problem could be related to certain router combinations. If you experiencing the Wi-Fi issues on a Surface device since the updates earlier this month, one suggestion is you can roll back the driver in the device manager, which will restore your access to 5GHz networks.
