Research Infosource: RIM is Canada's top R&D spender with $1.4billion in 2010

Research in Motion (RIM) remains Canada’s top corporate R&D spender, devoting nearly $1.4 billion to research, an increase of 26.3% over Fiscal 2009. RIM’s spending on research expanded slightly faster than its revenues (up 20.1%) according to a study by Research Infosource.

LG Optimus 2X to get Ice Cream Sandwich update

LG has confirmed that its Optimus 2X smartphone is expected to get the Ice Cream Sandwich updated which is Google Android version 4.

"LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones," the company said in a note on its Facebook page. "Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG."

Owners of current Android devices are wondering whether they will be able to get official updates for theri devices but this depends on Google, the specific manufacturers as well as, in some cases, the carriers.
