Gboard gets Material Design tweak in server-side update

If you noticed some changes in Gboard, Google did a little tweaking. The keyboard now has some Material Design tweaks injected into it. The new “Enter” button has a more rectangular border with rounded corners. The cards and GIFs section also gets this same rounded-corner treatment. And GIFs now have a vertical scrolling menu. There are also new emoticons added to Gboard along with a list of categories to make it easier to search for the emoticon you want to use. It’s a server-side update, so if it hasn’t made its way to you, unfortunately, you can’t force it. You’ll just have to wait to get your hands on those new emoticons.

Musi.sh lets you use Apple Music on the web

If you’re an Apple Music user, you’re probably heavily reliant on your phone to play music or have been forced to use iTunes when you’re on a computer. Now, if you wanted a web option, unfortunately that didn’t exist until now. Musi.sh is a new project that brings Apple music onto your web browser—for free. The site mostly echoes Apple Music design language and functionality, so there’s no learning curve here. This open-source project began with Apple Music-loving developers Filip Grebowski, Brychan Bennett-Odlum Raphael Vigee, and James Jarvis, who all wanted a way to use the service without draining their phones’ batteries. The team used Apple’s MusicKit and made the prototype at a 12-hour GitHub-sponsored hackathon. The team won with the project.

Right now, what’s missing is the Radio feature, because MusicKit currently doesn’t support radio stations through Apple Music. If you want to give it a try though, you can through this link. If you want to contribute to the project, you can through its GitHub page.

Apple AirPods can act like basic hearing aids with this feature

CNBC

Apple has prided itself in being able to integrate accessibility features into its products. One hidden feature available in AirPods will turn these accessories into a basic hearing aid. Called Live Listen, the feature uses the mic on your iPhone to pick up what’s being said around you and then feeds the audio right into your AirPods. So, you can place your iPhone near the person you’re talking to and catch what they’re saying easily.

You can access Live Listen through the settings on your iPhone. Head to Control Center and then Customize Controls. Tap on the green + button next to Hearing and add this to your control center list. To use it, swipe down from the top-right of the screen while in the home screen on an iPhone X or newer or swipe from the bottom on older iPhones to get to the ear icon. Make sure you’re wearing your AirPods. From there, tap on the Live Listen option.

Soon you’ll be able to mute and block artists you don’t like on Spotify

Right now you can only tell Spotify you don't like an artist through personalized playlists like Release Radar

Spotify first tried introducing this feature back in 2017 but decided against it “after serious consideration.” But the company looks like it’s reversing its decision. The company is currently testing this “don’t play this artist” feature in its newest iOS app. It’ll let you block an entire artist from appearing in your library, playlist, chart list, or even radio stations on your Spotify account. So, if you’d rather not hear from an artist you don’t like or are protesting against. You’ll soon be able to block them out, hopefully on a lot of platforms Spotify is available on.
