Microsoft rolls out its Microsoft 365 Business for SMBs

Microsoft is bringing its centralized hub of IT solutions for small- and medium-sized businesses to its customers around the world starting today. Microsoft 365 Business caters to companies with employees of up to 300 people. It has Office 365 suite of productivity and collaboration tools as well as device management and security tools that can protect company information across all Windows 10 devices and apps. On top of that, Microsoft announced three new business apps—Microsoft Connections, Microsoft Listings, and Microsoft Invoicing—for Microsoft 365 Business and Office 365 Business Premium for their customers in Canada, the US, and the UK. Microsoft is also introducing its app for firstline workers called Microsoft StaffHub.

The three new apps have been designed to help small businesses acquire new customers, boost revenue, and help speed up billing and receivables. Connections lets you send professional-looking marketing emails. Listings helps you attract new customers by getting the business listed on the likes of Facebook, Google, Bing, and Yelp. And Invoicing provides estimate and invoicing tools to help speed up payment and manage cash flow.

Razer unveils its beast of a smartphone

It’s been rumoured and teased but it’s now finally here. Razer has finally taken the wraps off the Razer Phone, a smartphone the company is gearing towards gamers but can also handle any other needs you might have. It has a bunch of standout features but one of the big ones is it’s the first smartphone to come with a 5.72-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, meaning the screen refreshes super-fast for smoother animation/movement in games as well as scrolling through the UI. It looks almost like the darker cousin of the Nextbit Robin, which makes sense as the company bought Nextbit earlier this year to make this phone possible. But it has a matte black finish with the Razer logo in Chrome instead of the usual green we see (although there will be a special edition version with the green logo at the back).

Aside from the design and the display, the Razer Phone is no slouch in other respects. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which is used by some of the big flagships now; Android Nougat 7.1.1, with Android Oreo 8.0 coming in the first quarter of 2018; a sizable 4,000mAh battery; 8GB of RAM; and 64GB internal storage with microSD expansion. It follows trends with a dual 12-megapixel rear camera setup with one a wide-angle lens and the other a telephoto one plus it has an 8-megapixel front shooter. Speaking of following trends, the Razer Phone doesn’t have a headphone jack, too. But the unit comes with a THX certified 3.5mm to USB-C DAC adapter. Razer said they needed to get rid of the audio jack for the battery and the speakers. One of the great things about the Razer is it retails for $699 in North America when you can expect it to break the $1,000 mark. The phone is expected to ship starting November 17th.

New OnePlus 5T teaser confirms the headphone jack stays

OnePlus has finally started to tease its upcoming smartphone. They recently teased the 20MP + 20MP camera setup and its Portrait Mode. This time, around OnePlus is talking about a feature that’s been disappearing in other flagship phones: the 3.5mm audio jack. The company tweeted a photo of its phones stacked on top of each other showing the headphone jack side along with the words: “What do our phones have in common? 🎵” We expect to see more of these teasers before OnePlus officially unveils the device on November 16th.

Android’s Fast Pair feature makes it easier to pair Bluetooth accessories to your phone

Google wants to eliminate the tedious process of having to search through the settings app to pair a Bluetooth device to the phone. Google Play Series version 11.7 brings the feature called Fast Pair to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. What it does is it searches for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy broadcasts in your area. You’ll get a high-priority notification once it spots the device you want to pair it to and it’ll ask you to “tap to pair” your device with, let’s say, Bluetooth headphones. The notification will show the product name and an image of the device to make sure you pair it with the correct device. Once you’ve successfully paired, you’ll get a second notification giving you a link to companion app, if the Bluetooth device has it. The feature currently just supports Google’s Pixel Buds and Libratone Q Adapt On-Ear. The upcoming Plantronics Voyager 8200 series will support the feature, too.
