Microsoft Outlook gets Android Wear watch face

Microsoft wants to make it easier for you to see your schedule and unread emails with its new Outlook for Android Wear watch face. You no longer have to rely on notifications from the Android Wear app but you can just raise your wrist to check your calendar and email as well as the time, of course. There are also different background and accent colors for you to choose from to make it somewhat your own. You can still interact with Outlook the same way you did with the Android smartphone app. You still have the options to respond to RSVP request, send replies from a pre-set list, and use voice dictation to compose a customized message.

Viber releases beta version of Windows 10 app

If you use Viber and have a Windows 10 device, you finally get a native Viber, albeit in beta. According to Microsoft, the messaging app has been built from the ground up and it can be used across all Windows 10 devices. Viber for Windows 10 has been built with responsive resizing so it should work well no matter what screen size your device has. If you’re new on Viber, the app like many other free messaging platforms offer things like Public Chats, sticker, group messaging, etc. It also recently announced end-to-end encryption. The app maintains a clean user interface and in the teaser video above shows that it also allows for drag-and-drop files from the desktop immediately into the chat. The app is already available for download from the Windows Store.

Tony Fadell leaves Nest

Nest Labs head Tony Fadell is leaving Nest and its effective immediately. While it may seem like a sudden departure, Fadell claims they have been in transition has been in progress since late 2015. Nest has been going through tons of rough patches since Alphabet, then Google, acquired the company in 2014. There were things like the failed release of a smoke and carbon monoxide detector (due to software issues), complaints of employees about Fadell’s leadership style, and the like. Fadell will be replaced by former Motorola Home CEO Marwan Fawaz but he’ll still stay on as an advisor for Alphabet in the immediate feature.

Instagram is ready to look like your Facebook news feed

It’s finally here and you can’t escape it. Instagram is rolling out the algorithm-based feed, meaning you won’t see posts in chronological order anymore. Instead, what you’ll see are posts based on factors such as popularity, your interests, and the like. This change was announced back in March but is now being implemented for all users this month. And it was met with a lot of resistance, especially with users that worry their posts won’t be seen because of the changes. Instagram claims in a blog post that the users who now see the algorithm-based feed tend to be more engaged on the platform.
