Google Chromebook to add native support for Android apps

While Chromebooks make for affordable PC options, they are limited to running web apps on Chrome. This means you run most of everything within a browser and that is quite restrictive. But according to Google’s announcement at its I/O conference in California, later this year Chrome OS will be able to run all apps and games on your Android devices. And they will run these natively to take advantage of the device’s hardware.

These apps will be running in windows so you can easily switch and use as many of them as you want—or as many as your system permits. Developers will get their hands on this new version of Chrome OS but they will need to be using a Chromebook Pixel 2, ASUS Chromebook Flip, or Acer Chromebook R11. They will add support to more devices later so all Chrome OS users will get access to it and hopefully drive sales for these Chromebooks.

Get to see more ghosts causing trouble in new ‘Ghostbusters’ trailer

No one is safe from the evil spirits roaming New York City. Not even Ghostbusters’s receptionist Kevin (played by Chris Hemsworth). It does make for some funny moments, though. At least we’re going by what the new trailer is showing. It looks like someone is making a machine to amplify paranormal activity and terrorize the living. Who are you going to call at times like these? The Ghostbusters, of course. The new film is directed by Paul Feig and stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. It’s expected to hit theatres on July 15th.

Create better presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint and Shutterstock

Sometimes in meetings or presentations you will need a powerful image to get your message across. Microsoft and Shutterstock are helping you out with a new plugin for PowerPoint. It’s basically an embedded search engine for Shutterstock photos. The photos are arranged via category or you can search for the image you want and then you can choose different image sizes depending on what you need the image for. You can then preview the images on your presentation, including the watermarked previews for those images you still purchase. Yes, you will have to pay to get the high-resolution photos you need. The plugin is now up for download through the Office Store.

Watch YouTube videos in sync with others using ShareTube

ShareTube is offering a rather simple yet rather useful solution for when you want to watch YouTube videos simultaneously with your friends or family without having to crowd one screen. It lets you create playlists and sync playbacks for everyone in the room. It’s not an entirely new concept but what does set it apart is it isn’t just for music videos. You can create shared video playlists of any YouTube video and talk about each one. Just search for the video you want and you’re good to go.
