Microsoft optimizes OneDrive for iPad Pro & Apple Pencil

Microsoft is helping you make the most out of your iPad Pro with the latest update of its OneDrive app on iOS. The version 6.8 of the app brings with it iPad Pro optimization. This means PDF annotations are now pressure sensitive. When you write or draw harder, the resulting image will be darker. If your touch is lighter, the writing or drawing will be lighter. The Apple Pencil and 3D Touch displays both have better optimization as well. Microsoft also quashed some of the usual bugs and added stability improvements to the app.

MasterCard’s MasterPass simplifies online shopping

It’s been a banner year for online shopping in Canada as the industry experienced 20% growth in online sales in 2015. The combined online share sales in November and December of last year totaled 9.84%, according to MasterCard SpendingPulse. Both months bested last year’s 8.6% record as online sales in November reached 9.7%, the highest in Canadian e-commerce history; that is until December came in a retail sales climbed up to 9.9%.

Fujifilm releases new rugged camera

Fujifilm has a new rugged digital camera you can take on your next big adventure. The FinePix XP90 is waterproof up to 15m/50ft, shockproof up to 1.75m/5.8ft, freezeproof up to -10 degrees Celsius/14 degrees Fahrenheit, and dustproof against sand or dust. It has a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom, 28mm Fujinon zoom lens, and ISO 6400 sensitivity as well as optical image stabilization. It also comes with a 3-inch 920k dot high-definition LCD with anti-reflective coating to make it easier to use in bright areas or underwater. And for easy photo transfer, the camera has a dedicated Wi-Fi button.

Google lets users install apps via search results

You may no longer need to leave your Google search results page to install apps on your Android device. A new feature in the Google app on Android will let you bypass Google Play Store for installing apps but you’ll still see the same app permissions and install popups you’d find if you installed from the Play Store. These apps you can install will appear at the top of your search results with an Install button attached to it. It’s not yet released to all Android users but Google seems to be widening the user base that can use the feature. At the moment, this feature is limited to the Google app and not on Chrome.
