Helium brings picture-in-picture mode for web videos on OS X

Watching web videos while you do other things on your desktop usually requires you to resize the browser window until it’s the size you want it to be. With Helium on Mac, it allows you to overlay web videos and look similar to the picture-in-picture mode of iOS 9. This can be used for videos from the likes of YouTube, Netflix, and all the other video streaming services online. To use Helium, you have to use Safari and install the necessary plugins. You can also drop the URL of a video into Helium and then it’ll play this for you.

HTC pushes back release of Grip fitness tracker to early 2016

You may or may not know HTC partnered with Under Armour to release a fitness tracker called Grip? It was announced back in March 1st. It was first scheduled for a release in spring of 2015. But that didn’t materialize. It’s now almost the end of the year without any word from HTC about the device. That is until they released a statement to Phandroid. HTC and UA have decided to hold off the launch of the Grip (without mentioning the device specifically) to early next year. According to the statement, they will launch a “fully integrated digital ecosystem of products early next year.”

Tesla's Autopilot feature gets approved for international use

We’re inching closer and closer to driverless cars. Tesla’s keeping ahead of that curve with its Autopilot feature. Tesla was planning to release the feature around the world once it got regulatory approval. The day has arrived as Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter they got international release approval for all countries except for Japan, which is still under review.

Now, if you want your Tesla to do the driving for you can do so. A new Autopilot 1.01 update is coming out soon with better fleet learning, improved lane tracking on poor roads, curved speed adoption, and controller smoothness. The company’s semi-autonomous driving feature, Autosteer, is in beta. Drivers are still encouraged to keep their hands on the wheel as the car navigates because in case the system detects a section it can’t navigate, it will prompt you to take over the wheel.

iTunes U gets iPad Pro support, adds new features

iTunes U is getting ready for the release of iPad Pro, which can be marketed in the education segment, with a slew of new features. The version 3.1 of the app gets things like the ability to include images so teachers and students can see how progress is being made on certain activities or even show how to do certain things. The grade book gets a refresh as well. It now shows a student’s average grade within a course, aside from showing minimum, maximum, and average grades in a class for a particular assignment. Apple has also thrown in the usual stability and performance improvements within the app.
