Google's new super fast search widget coming to Chrome on Android

Search is Google's main bread and butter and is at the centre of most of their services and devices. It usually takes a few seconds to invoke a search box before you can type out a search item. A new widget, which is designed to speed through searches, comes in the dev version of Chrome and gives us a sneak peek at faster searching on mobile devices.

Intrepid Android users can get a taste of this new widget by heading to the Play Store and download Chrome Dev. Simply add the widget to your homescreen and see how much better faster searches are.

Opera's latest release aims to make web browsers exciting again

It's been a real long time since anyone's felt any excitement towards web browsers. There was a time when companies would try and ply on as many features and functionality as possible but then, thanks to Google Chrome, it was all about paring it down and offering the fastest performance.

Opera's latest release, Opera 45 brings a chock-full of new features taken from its project Neon browser and also adds direct access to Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and Telegram right on a sidebar. The newest Opera browser also has built-in ad blockers and as well as a battery saver mode for extended life on notebooks. I've been playing around with the browser and find it to be elegant, sprightly and a great option for Windows 10.

New mobile app rewards cyclists for biking

New mobile app Biko, which rewards cyclists for biking has launched. By downloading the free app on their smartphones, users track their movement via GPS and can earn one digital reward point - called a “biko” - for every kilometre they travel. Bikos can then be exchanged for goods and services from participating businesses.

“We are thrilled to launch in Toronto and join the city’s efforts in growing its cycling network,” says Emilio Pombo, Co-Founder of Biko. “Incentivizing cycling through rewards can help reduce Toronto’s carbon emissions, and we have the data to prove it. By choosing to ride their bicycles, our users have collectively reduced carbon emissions by 2,608 tonnes globally.”
