Facebook introduces 'lite' version of app for emerging countries

Facebook looks to bring its social network to emerging markets. They have just introduced a new simplified version of its mobile app for Android users in developing countries. Called Facebook Lite, it runs Facebook's core functionality while only taking up 252KB of space. Messaging has been integrated within the app to lessen the digital footprint it takes up. It is meant to run on slower 2G networks  for countries like Nepal, Nigeria, Bangladesh, South Africa, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. If you're in one of those countries, you can download the app below.

OnePlus 2 release reportedly delayed by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 issues

Hoping to bring out another game changing device, OnePlus team has been creating a lot of hype for its next flagship, the OnePlus 2. It was expected to come out in Q2 of this year but apparently it is getting pushed back to the third quarter. The reason? Issues with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810 processor. If true, this issue might even cause some problems for the upcoming flagships of other brands. The other rumoured specs of the new OnePlus device are that'll also run on 4GB of RAM and have a QHD 5.5-inch display.

Samsung working on wearable sensor for stroke detection

Hoping to lessen disabilities and casualties caused by strokes, a group of engineers from the Samsung Creativity Lab are working on a wearable sensor to detect strokes and let people know that they need to go in for treatment. Those with stroke symptoms usually put off going to the doctor because they aren’t familiar with the signs. They call the prototype Early Detection Sensor & Algorithm Package. The head-worn sensor can monitor brainwaves via smartphone and tablet and predict the probability of an oncoming stroke. It can even track neurological health, stress, anxiety, and sleep patterns. There is no indication though that the prototype will reach mass production though. It would be good if it will though.
