Facebook wants to keep fake news at bay

Facebook tweaked its News Feed yet again so you get to see less hoaxes when you scroll through it. According to the social network, “Today’s update to News Feed reduces the distribution of posts that people have reported as hoaxes and adds an annotation to posts that have received many of these types of reports to warn others on Facebook.”

This is in line with Facebook’s recent feature that lets you report stories you think are false or those “purposefully fake or deceitful news, [or] a hoax disproved by a reputable source.” Hopefully, this means there are less of the scams and misleading tales showing up on our feeds.

HTC tipped to drop M9 smartphone and first smartwatch soon

And so the rumour mill ahead of Mobile World Congress in March has started turning. This time, HTC is reportedly introducing its latest flagship, the M9, as well as its first smartwatch. According to a “person familiar with the matter,” the M9 will run on Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 20-megapixel rear shooter, and an improved UltraPixel front camera. It will also come with new Sense UI (Sense 7) and Dolby speakers.

As for the smartwatch, it is expected to come integrated with Under Armour’s new fitness software, since the two companies have partnered for HTC’s Record app. The app is meant to pull in stats from different fitness-tracking gadgets to centralize tracking and sharing. The smartwatch from the Taiwanese company was expected last year but according to executives, the wearable just wasn’t ready for a debut. We’ll let you know if we find out anything more concrete. For now, let the MWC countdown begin.

Leaks of Google Calendar on iOS surface

If you’ve been jealous of your Android buddies over their redesigned Google Calendar, you might just have to wait a bit more before the new look comes your way. The Next Web got their hands on what seems to be leaked screenshots of the updated calendar app. From the looks of it, it seems similar to the Android version. Based on the screencaps, iOS users might be able to get features like being able to add map information right in the calendar. Of course, we can’t tell exactly what else the app might get until Google decides to update the app.

Dyson introduces first upright, no loss suction vacuum

Dyson continually seeks to revolutionize the vacuum cleaner. This time around they’re introducing their latest canister vacuum with Cinetic technology, the DC77. What makes this vacuum cleaner special is it is the first upright vacuum from the company with Cinetic technology. It is designed to not lose suction even after how many years and it doesn’t come with filters to wash or replace.

The Cinetic science technology was introduced August of last year in a canister format. Now, it comes in an upright variant with the DC77 for those who prefer to push instead of pull. Other key features include self-adjusting cleaner head to let it adapt to any surface; Ball technology to make it easier to steer around furniture; and hygienic bin emptying to make it easier to dump dirt and dust into the trash can. The DC77 is available in Multi-Floor ($699.99) and Animal ($799.99) models.
