Instagram now lets you edit captions

Whether it be a case of sticky fingers or autocomplete on a rampage, we’ve all messed up our captions and status updates at one point or another. Instagram for the longest time wouldn’t let you edit your captions so you had to go through the trouble of deleting a photo and putting it right back up just so you can get it right. They have finally heard your pleas and now lets you edit captions after you post your images. You just need to tap on the three dots at the bottom right of the image and the Edit option appears there. Aside from editing caption, it also lets you tag people and add location.

Instagram has also updated its Explore tab to add two separate sections: Photos and People. Photos looks just like what Explore used to look like with a grid of photos, while People shows off accounts you might be interested in following. This new update is available for iOS and Android users.

Apple remedies missing text issue for those who transfer platforms

If you have found yourself missing text messages after you switched to an Android or Windows Phone device from an iPhone, Apple is helping you out with a little tool that will deregister your phone number from iMessage. The issue apparently is that Apple routes your incoming messages to iMessage so when you make the switch, texts from iPhone users disappear into the ether. Apple wants to note though that traditional SMS are not routed through iMessage servers.

If you forgot to disable iMessage before switching phones, the only available solution before was to completely disconnect your device from an Apple account. Now, you just need to input your number into Apple’s deregistration site and put in the verification sent to you.

Instagram partners with six Canadian brands, rolls out first batch of ads

We couldn’t avoid it any longer. Ads are heading your way on Instagram any day soon. The social media platform has partnered with six Canadian brands for the launch, including HBC, Air Canada, Target Canada, Travel Alberta, Sport Chek, and Mercedes Benz.

Instagram says they plan to roll out ads in a slow and “carefully controlled” way while taking feedback from its community. They said they plan on delivering a small number of high-quality photos and videos from brands that are already part of the Instagram community.
