Samsung renames app store as Galaxy Apps

Samsung is looking to make its app store more viable with its rebranding. Samsung Apps will now be known as Galaxy Apps and it comes with a new user interface and hundreds of Samsung Galaxy exclusive apps. The apps have been divided into categories such as Top, Best Picks, and For Galaxy. The For Galaxy category is divided further to sections including Galaxy Gifts, Galaxy Essentials, Galaxy Specials, and Apps for Professionals. The Specials apps have been made using Samsung’s SDKs. The new app store is said to give Galaxy users more options to help customize their devices and as a platform to announce promotions and deals.

Google Maps now lets you know the exact distance between two points

You used to be able to get distance measurements from one point to another on Google Maps but this was confined to routing directions. Now, Google Maps on the Web browser lets you know the exact distance between two points. It doesn’t matter if there is an ocean or a building or a continent between them. All you need to do is right click anywhere on Google Maps and select the “Measure distance” option. It can also measure multiple distances, too, if that’s what you need to do.

The friendship bracelet gets an update with Facebook

Lollapalooza isn’t the only one bringing tech into its music festival. Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival is turning its festival wristband into a modern day equivalent to a Facebook friendship bracelet. Festival goers will receive the wristband in the mail and will be invited to register online and link their Facebook accounts. This will let them make connections with people they meet at Tomorrowland. They can make connections by simply pressing a heart button on the wristband at the same time. Those connections will be included in an email that will let them pick who they want to add or not.
