Panasonic Canada marries landline and mobile phone capabilities with DECT series

Panasonic Canada is bringing new home cordless phones that allow your landline and mobile phone to work together. The DECT series has models (KXPRW120 and KXPRW130) that come with Smartphone Connect functionality, a feature that turns your smartphone or tablet into an additional handset. You just need to install the Smartphone Connect app for Android and iOS and be within the range of your wireless router. These models also have Baby Monitor feature but will need an additional handset and Talking Caller ID to let you know who’s calling you. The KXPRW120 and KXPRW130 both retail for $169.99.

Instagram adds more photo editing tools to Android and iOS

Looks like Instagram wants you to rely more on its native application than other third-party apps with its version 6.0 update. The app is finally bringing more photo editing capabilities, including the ability to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and the like. You would just need to tap on the wrench icon to access these features.

Google introduces 64-bit version of Chrome

Want to squeeze out a bit more juice from your Google Chrome browser and have a 64-bit Windows 7 or 8 machine? Google has just released a 64-bit version of the browser. It promises to boost speeds by up to 25 percent and better security for 64-bit Windows 8 devices. According to the Chromium blog, the Canary and Dev channels of Chrome already have it. The Chromium team even goes so far to suggest that the 64-bit Dev version is more stable than 32-bit Chrome. We would recommend you get it through Dev channel though as Canary is a relatively new build without much internal testing done.

Microsoft to update Cortana twice a month

Microsoft is making sure its voice assistant stays up-to-date with a twice-per-month update cycle. The Cortana team at Microsoft told Engadget that the company even considers updating more than twice a month for things they consider "timely, urgent or especially badass." But you don't have to worry yourself about these updates. Microsoft intends for the updates to come in through the background to make the experience as seamless and painless as possible.
