Fun Canadian Facts about BlackBerry

We're a few hours away from the opening keynote here at BlackBerry World 2012  in Orlando and we will soon know what will be revealed. In the meantime, RIM has shared some fun Canadian Facts about BlackBerry.

 

  • BlackBerry is the #1 smartphone in Canada (as per comScore, MobiLens in December 2011)
  • In Canada, 9 out of 10 BlackBerry subscribers are active users of BBM (BlackBerry Messenger)
  • BlackBerry PlayBook became the no. 1 selling tablet in Future Shop & Best Buy after the launch of OS 2.0 and after it was discounted accross the board.
  • BlackBerry is the leading OS among 13 to 17 year olds in Canada with 40.7% of the smartphone market.
  • BlackBerry is also the leading OS among 18 to 24 year-olds in Canada with almost 34% of the smartphone market.

Motorola outs Motoluxe 4-inch Android Smartphone, will appear sometime in Q2

The new Motorola Motoluxe by Motorola Mobility Canada Ltd. is a midrange Android smartphone featuring a new interface that learns what users like and adapts to help them carry out common tasks faster. The Motoluxe is said to be coming out sometime in Q2 2012.

The Android–powered smartphone is focused on a unique design and thin profile and a new multi-coloured LED notification light so users can easily keep track of incoming calls, texts or e-mails. With a 4-inch touchscreen that’s perfect for surfing the web and watching movies.

Live from BlackBerry World 2012 in Orlando

Orlando, FL - There's a buzz here at the Marriott Orlando World Center in anticipation of this week's BlackBerry World which is the largest annual gathering for the BlackBerry ecosystem, and the place where the community behind BlackBerry devices, services and solutions gather to learn, share and network. 

This one's a big deal. As Research In Motion prepares to unveil much anticipated new smartphone hardware later this year running on an entirely revamped BlackBerry 10 operating system, many believe can make or break RIM's future prospects for success in the smartphone market it created. This is their chance to rally the troops and create excitement for upcoming hardware and software.
