Twitter starts testing its long-form writing feature in Canada

Source: Twitter

Canada is one of four countries trying out a new long-form writing feature on Twitter. The new Notes feature will allow writers on the platform to write lengthier pieces on the app. It will enable you to go beyond 280 characters using a rich-text editor for writing. A small group of writers in the country, as well as those in the US, the UK, and Ghana, are trying this feature out. But users from around the world will get to see these Notes.

Other features you can expect include photo, video, GIF, and tweet embedding, the option to edit Notes (even after being published), and a special Notes tab on the profile (first coming to the web, then on mobile). The feature is available on both mobile and the web. You can read more about the feature here.

Nothing phone (1) won't come to Canada

Source: Nothing

We've already seen previews of Nothing's first smartphone. Unfortunately, the Nothing phone (1) won't get a widespread release here. Instead, Nothing plans to distribute a "limited number" of the devices to community investors in the country as part of a "closed beta." But it hopes to release it in the region in the future. It will be launching in Europe on July 12, with the company auctioning off the first units to interested buyers.

"While we'd love to bring phone (1) to the entire community around the world, we're focusing on home markets, including the UK and Europe, where we have strong partnerships with leading local carriers," the company told PCMag in a statement. "It takes a lot to launch a smartphone as you know, from ensuring the handset is supported by the country's cellular technologies to carrier partnerships and local regulation, and as we're still a young brand we need to be strategic about it."

This Apple Watch app lets you watch YouTube videos on your wrist

Source: 9to5Mac

If you ever thought you needed to watch YouTube videos on your wrist, this Apple Watch app will let you do just that. WatchTube allows you to watch just about any YouTube video on your smartwatch. You can download the app directly from the watchOS App Store. When you have it installed, you can already start watching.

The app has four sections: Home, Search, Library, and Settings. The Home section will default show you trending videos on the platform. But you can choose specific video categories to show in this section. You can use dictation and scribbling to look for a video in the app, with a search highlighting top results for videos and channels.

Check out LG's Darth Vader-themed OLED TV

Source: LG

If you stay on top of Star Wars news, you've probably heard about this special edition LG TV made in honour of the saga's iconic villain. Now, LG is releasing this limited edition version of its 65-inch C2 OLED TV. It features a Star Wars-inspired on-screen menu system, aesthetics, and packaging with Darth Vader. You also get exclusive galleries of Star Wars content—including original, illustrated storyboards and posters of iconic scenes. It also comes with a themed Magic Remote with a user interface the look of a lightsaber. This is one remote you wouldn't want to lose. And if you want to hear the Sith Lord's terrifying and distinctive breathing, you'll hear that every time you turn on the TV.

The LG Star Wars C2 TV was first revealed on the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim show floor last month. There will only be 501 models released in the US through LG's website. Star Wars fans will be familiar with this number as it's Vader's elite stormtrooper unit. When it comes to pricing, it's definitely in collectors' territory at US$2,999 (approx. CA$3,887), which is US$899 (~CA$1,165) more than the standard model at US$2,100 (~CA$2,722).
