YouTube to test new way to skip to parts you want to watch

Video chapters have made it easier for you to get to sections of the clip you want to get to. But the company is testing out a new way to skip to the parts you're interested in watching. As you see in the GIF above, the slider pulls up previews of what's in the video, so you can skip to the exact part you want to check out. YouTube plans to test the feature out with Premium users. It says you should keep checking youtube.com/new for the feature to come out.

YouTube lets you see 'most replayed' parts in videos

YouTube is rolling out an experimental feature to desktop and mobile users. The service will show you the most frequently replayed parts of the YouTube video you're watching. If the graph has a spike, this portion of the video has been replayed often.

Video chapters can now also be auto-generated. And those using YouTube on smart TVs and gaming consoles can finally access the feature, which was first launched in May 2020. Video chapters break up videos into sections to make it easier to check out a specific part of the clip you might be interested in.

YouTube Music finally gets a Wear OS app

If you're a YouTube Music user and have a smartwatch running the latest Wear OS 2 version, you can finally listen to YouTube Music on the wearable. It's possible to stream over LTE or Wi-Fi without your smartphone. You can download songs to it to listen to while offline, control playback, manage downloads, and like songs all from your wrist. The YouTube Music tile will act like a quick-launch remote for recently played playlists, and you can also browse the main page of the app.

If you're a premium subscriber, you won't have to endure ads and get access to that download function. It will also start aggregating new playlists based on your listening history.

Acer brings stereoscopic 3D to its new SpatialLabs external monitors

Acer

Acer has a couple of new external monitors with what is typically deemed "gimmicky" features. The new SpatialLabs View and View Pro are standalone 15.6-inch 4K monitors with glasses-free stereoscopic 3D technology. Acer has previously included this tech in ConceptD notebooks, but it hasn't brought it to this format yet.

The standard SpatialLabs View is designed for entertainment use, while the Pro is for commercial users. The former gets the SpatialLabs TrueGame portal for playing 3D games. The app gives each of the 50 or so 3D-compatible games a pre-configured profile to help the games feel more immersive. You can expect some of the big titles: Forza Horizon 5The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and God of War.
