Apple TV on Xbox Series X/S get Dolby Vision

Microsoft & Spotify

The Apple TV on the Xbox Series X/S is getting improved visuals with the added support for Dolby Vision. Of course, you'll need a Dolby Vision-compatible display to get this feature to work, and you need to be an Apple TV+ subscriber. There will be a Dolby Vision logo on a show or movie's description page if the title and setup support it. Shows like Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest are available in Dolby Vision. To activate the feature on your Xbox, head to Settings > General > TV display options > Video Modes.

On other entertainment app news on the Xbox, Spotify video podcasts are available on the console. Shows like The Misfits have video podcasts on the platform. You can play the videos in the background or keep it running while you play games. You can also control playback via the Spotify app on your phone or tablet.

Google Photos rolls out 'review and delete' tool ahead of storage policy change

Google Photos will end its free unlimited backup option in June, which means the many photos you've backed up on the service will count towards your Google Account storage. Ahead of the change, the service gets a "review and delete" tool that can help you take out content like large photos and videos, blurry images, and screenshots. Selecting one of these three options will bring up the pictures and clips that count towards your storage, so you can free up some space by deleting unnecessary files.

Riot Games will host 'League of Legends' 2021 championship in Shenzhen on November 6

Even with the pandemic, Riot Games held last year's League of Legends finals in person, so it's not surprising the developer plans to host this year's championships in the flesh again. Riot Games announced that the 2021 World Championship would be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 6. It didn't mention safety measures, but more details are coming at "later dates." Riot did mention the 60,334-person capacity of the Universiade Sports Center venue.

Last year's competition in Shanghai relied on an "isolation bubble" for the competitors, with the event proceeding mostly as planned. There were substitutes for players who couldn't compete due to pandemic-related travel issues. It looks like the developers are confident enough that it mounted last year's event successfully, plus there's hope on improved conditions with vaccine rollouts ongoing. It won't be surprising if other tournaments follow suit, of course, with the need for safety measures in place still.

You might soon use Google Assistant to power off your Android phone

It might soon be possible to use Google Assistant to power off your Android phone. 9to5Google has been digging around the beta versions of Android 12 and Search and found clues leading to this option. With Android 12, Google is adding a long-press to access Google Assistant. The dilemma this feature brings is you can't find a way to turn your phone off when you select this option. One potential solution the site found is adding a power button in Android's quick settings menu. Another is pressing the Power and Volume Up buttons to access the power menu. And then, there's also the option to tell Google Assistant to "Power off" your phone.

But since the features aren't live yet, it isn't clear if the voice command will immediately shut down your phone or open the power menu. It isn't also clear if this feature will be exclusive to Pixel devices or Android 12. When we get more details, we'll be sure to update you.
