Whatever Happened to....AvantGo?

Back in the heady days when PDA's (Personal Digital Assistants) did not have access to the Internet, one of the best ways to read content on the go was to sync aggregated feeds from the web to your device. AvantGo was an elegant, clever and free solution that allowed you to download webpages and three or more levels of links which you could read offline.

AvantGo was the precursor to RSS readers and while it was a sweet solution for millions of Palm and PocketPC users, the company was acquired by Sybase in 2002 and the technology was absorbed into the company.

Clearly ahead of its time, AvantGo lives on in Snac, an advertising driven RSS feed delivery service for feature phones, BlackBerries and Windows Mobile devices.
