Sharp announces two new AQUOS Quattron 3D HDTVs

Sharp Electronics today announced the Canadian availability of its new LE835 Series of AQUOS Quattron 3D TVs and LE830 Series of AQUOS Quattron 2D TV models in 60-, 52-, 46- and 40-inch screen sizes.

Announced earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, both Series feature built-in WiFi, delivering wide network functionality such as video streaming from the Internet and throughout the home, as well as Sharp’s AQUOS Advantage Live customer service.

“No matter what the technological advancements over the years, consumer have always put picture quality and colour first when making their choice in a TV,” said Carmine Cinerari, President, Sharp Canada. “We’re excited to be launching two new Quattron 3D and 2D LCD TV Series that feature the expanded colour palette and brightness that only Sharp’s Quad Pixel Technology can produce.”

With its proprietary Quad Pixel Technology, Sharp adds the color Y (yellow) to the R (red), G (green), and B (blue) – RGB - spectrum of the traditional television pixel structure. This enables Quattron TVs to reproduce colors that have been difficult to portray using conventional LCD displays, such as the brass golds of musical instruments and Caribbean blues and greens. The addition of the yellow sub-pixel also allows more light to pass through to the panel. This, combined with Sharp’s advanced pixel control technology that minimizes light leakage while offering a wider aperture to let more light through, results in a brighter, more vibrant image.  A brighter image is particularly important for 3D viewing, compensating for the common problem of images becoming dark and dull when viewed through active shutter 3D glasses.

Sharp’s exclusive AquoMotion 240 technology improves picture quality by virtually eliminating blur and artifacts from fast-moving onscreen action sequences. These models also offer built-in WiFi for advanced connectivity around the home and four HDMI inputs for simple connections to multiple HD components. The Series includes Netflix, Vudu* and CinemaNow* streaming video capability, along with the industry’s leading online support system AQUOS Advantage Live, in which a Sharp technician can remotely take control of and optimize your TV for room lighting and the media you are consuming, as well as help you troubleshoot.  The LE835 Series’ attractive streamlined ultra-slim and narrow bezel design provides a great complement to any home theatre viewing environment.
