Father's Day Gift Guide

What to get dad? You know he's had his fill of socks and ties, how about something that can bring out his creative side or help him in the activities he enjoys the most? Here are some items that we think will click with fathers of all ages.

Fujifilm FinePix S1800 12 Megapixel camera with 18x optical zoom (SRT $229)

This fairly compact camera offers an outstanding 18 x optical zoom as well as the ability to shoot 720p HD video. Running on 4 AA batteries, getting juice is also trouble free, specially for travelers. It has a 3" inch LCD screen as well as an optical viewfinder .

Dad will love the smart functions like Intelligent Scene recognition,  dual image stabilization (critical for long zoom cameras) and panorama mode. Solidly built and easy to use, the S1800 is an accomplished all around camera.

Apple iPad 2 (SRT $519)

Even the most non-technical dads will find ways to use and enjoy Apple's iPad 2.

Sure it is hard to find and yes it isn't cheap but its the best of breed tablet in the market today and it is just getting better.

65,000 iPad specific apps are available but even if dad's not into that, it's a compelling e-mail, web surfing, address book and ebook reader as well as multimedia playback device.

Now with FaceTime and dual-cameras, you can have voice chats with dad as long as he's within a WiFi connection.

 Kobo Touch WiFi eReader ($139)

For dads that love to read, the new Kobo Touch eReader makes a lot of sense. It is a one trick pony that works extremely well.

A new 6" inch e Ink display is faster and easier on the eyes than any backlit LCD and Kobo's staggering collection of books brings lots of choice.

The best thing about the Kobo Touch is it offers more natural interaction through touch control.

Onyx XM Satellite Radio Receiver Kit $49.00

This summer might be a good time to get Dad an XM satellite radio, specially if he spends a lot of time on the road.

Currently selling for $50, the Onyx XM satellite radio receiver kit. This interfaces with the car stereo via FM signal so connection is pretty simple although not the most effective.

You do get 130 channels of premium content, including sports, news and some really funny comedy shows. Monthly subscirption starts at $15 a month.

Flip Mino HD video camera ($100)

Yes, we know Cisco decided to flip off the Flip and stop pouring money into the venture but these are still very good handheld video cameras (we should know, we use them to shoot our videos).

At a reduced price of $99, the Flip Mino HD is super-portable, has a rechargeable batter and all the software you need to edit and share video built in. It is also Mac and PC compatible and is so easy to use.

You get roughly an hour to shoot HD video in a compact and easy to carry device.
