TypeHellow browser extension allows you to start a chat room on any website

TypeHellow,  is a new web communication tool that makes it simple to “meet” and chat with other people while surfing the internet. By adding the TypeHello browser extension, anyone can create a chat room and message friends or meet new people who are browsing the same web site.

In other words, TypeHello makes web sites truly social. “We wanted to make web sites social, and not just with friends, but with anyone on the site. We created TypeHello so you could chat with anyone who is online looking at the same web site you are on.” said Rost.

"For example, let’s say you’re on Macys.com and want a second opinion about some shoes you like. Just ask someone else on the site. Or maybe you’re on your favorite blog and want to discuss a post."

On ecommerce websites, TypeHello can be a way to get an unbiased opinion from another shopper.

“Let’s say you are looking for a new phone and you want to ask somebody which one they recommend. You can open up Att.com and find that there are four people that are currently browsing that website.

Ask either one of them which phone they like and you can potentially save yourself from a trip to the store, or from countless hours browsing the internet for reviews,“ said Rost.

Other possibilities include chatting with others on a singles site, or discussing a recent story in the news. TypeHello essentially creates a virtual community where channels become communication hubs.

TypeHello is free and does not require a download. To get started, simply enter www.typehello.com and click and drag the “TypeHello” link unto your toolbar. Scroll over the “How?” button for visual instructions.

Once you drag the link unto your toolbar a window will pop up on your left, just enter some basic information.

Then go to a favorite website and begin chatting.

On Facebook and other sites, friends have to know and approve each other to communicate. TypeHello does not use the traditional friend request method. No one needs to request or confirm a friendship. Instead, anyone can add another person as a friend. If that person chooses not to add back, then they become acquaintances. This means both will be visible to each other and will have the ability to talk at any time. It’s also possible to block people from communicating. A notes feature lets people leave notes for each other or for themselves.

TypeHello is new paradigm for communicating on the internet that combines the experience of social networks, chat rooms and instant messengers.
