Learning how to fly a helicopter with Travelzoo

By Corey Herscu

Travelzoo has been aggressively making a name for themselves in the online booking space. Taking a highly-curated approach to assisting their users' in booking experiences around the world, it was a perfect choice for to book my latest adventure and my wife's birthday weekend.

I am horrible with planning anything. Absolutely horrible. I am also very much over buying my wife jewelry as a gift. This isn't to say diamonds aren't a girls best friend; just that they are not as creative as planning an adventure, nor do they create the same memories.

So when I recently attended a Travelzoo briefing and they mentioned that they would be open to sponsoring an adventure, I jumped on the chance of booking a getaway with my wife.

The staff at Travelzoo were very accomodating every step of the way  and assisted me throughout the whole process.

From filtering through the many experiences offered, city to city, to helping ensure I knew what I was doing and subsequently booking, they remained patient and enthusiastic.

In the end, we booked Heliocopter lessons at Don's Flying School at Marlboro Airport, in Marlboro, Massachussets - just 45-minutes south of where we were staying in downtown Boston.

We arrived and were greeted with a friendly smile by the lead flight teacher, Matthew. He walked us through all the steps we needed to know (don't even bother asking me to recite) and within 15-minutes, we were in the tiny Rebel helicopter lifting it off the ground.

My wife and I were both hovering around the tracking in no time. However when it came to actually taking off and getting some height, the controls were passed back over to him.

Overall, I am glad that Travelzoo talked me into this experience. My wife and I had a blast and  will forever remember this unique adventure. This experience also showed me just how thorough TravelZoo is as a company, ensuring they're properly represented via their merchants.
