Microsoft stops making the Surface 2, Windows RT likely discontinued

Microsoft has finally given up on its ARM powered Surface 2 tablet. The company confirmed that it is no longer manufacturing its 'iPad Killer' which ran the RT version of Windows which could run Metro apps, but was unable to take advantage of the thousands of classic or legacy Windows Apps.

The Surface and later the Surface 2 (along with the Surface RT operating system) was designed to create low powered (and price competitive) tablets and hybrids which could push Microsoft's productivity-focused apps and services. The Surface Pro, which shares the Surface's kickstand feature, can run Windows applications and will be upgraded to Windows 10. Surface and Surface 2 tablets will note be able to run Windows 10.
