iPad Pro available for preorder at MacMall

Online Mac specialty retailer MacMall is offering the upcoming iPad Pro for preorder with an early bird discount. The iPad Pro and its Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories are expected to hit stores on November 13 (although Canadian availability and price is still up in the air). Apple hasn't enabled any preorders for the device on their website, which means early adopters will likely need to go to physical stores and take their chances on finding iPad Pros.

Being a new product, initial stock is expected to be constrained until manufacturing can ramp up production to meet demand. We saw a similar trend with the MacBook earlier this year, which trickled into Apple Retail Stores the first few weeks of its availability.

The iPad Pro is an attempt to revive the flagging iPad market which has seen a steady decline, not because it is a bad product, but actually quite the opposite. It seems people hold on to their iPads for a long time (iPad 2 is still the dominant model most people still use).

Despite getting thinner, lighter and more powerful each successive version, the ability for older iPads to use newer software features keeps them around longer than iPhones which are now usually replaced in two-year cycles.
