Facebook's iOS app will soon be able to show and share Live Photos

Facebook's iOS app is expected to let users share and experience Live Photos shot on iPhone 6S. This is one of the landmark features of the new 12 megapixel camera in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus which gives users an option to shoot brief moving pictures that capture moments before and after the picture for an animated Live Photo. Tumblr currently allows Live Photos to be shared on its service as well.

Facebook will roll out the feature to a small percentage of users globally, with broader roll out to continue in the new year. Any user who is part of the rollout running iOS 9 on their iPhone or iPad will be able to experience Live Photos in the Facebook app. To see the Live Photo, users simply have to press and hold on the Live Photo to see it in motion and sound.

How to Post a Live Photo on Facebook

1. From the News Feed, click Photo and select your Live Photo (look for the concentric Live Photo circle in the corner)
2. Before you hit Post, tap on the lower right hand corner of the photo where it says “Live” - this will ensure you upload in the Live format.
3. Add a caption as you normally would and click Post
