Review: Dyson V6 Mattress Handheld Vaccum

By Gadjo Cardenas Sevilla

Dyson is the sort of company that loves rising up to challenges and knows that one solution does not fit all. Their V6 Mattress handheld vacuum may sound like a very specific product for specific needs, but it is one of the most versatile and powerful handheld vacuums in the market today.

Dyson specializes in creating vacuum solutions for specific tasks. They've done it for homes with pets and now they are focusing on mattresses and other types of furniture.

The Dyson V6 Matterss handheld vaccum's small size and unique look and feel might make it look like a lightweight vacuum but it is one of the most powerful handheld devices around and designed to suck dirt, dust and allergens from deep mattresses and other types of furniture.

I tested the Dyson V6 mattress on my bed, comforter, pillows as well as various chairs, sofas and throws around my house and even used to clean the cloth seats, headliners and carpet of my two cars to great effect. The Vacuum is handheld and can be used freely without needing to be connected all the time and its ley features are powerful suction as well as a motorized brush cover that dislodges allergens.

Before testing the Dyson V6 Mattress vacuum, I never considered using my large vacuum on my bed or pillows. It just didn't seem right to use the same tool that is used on floors and carpets on such personal and intimate effects. Previous dust-buster type vacuums are good for picking up crumbs and quick clean-up jobs but don't have enough suction to really suck out microscopic allergens and germs.

Considering that dustmites and their droppings, skin cells and other microscopic forms of bacteria are generally invisible but eminently harmful, Dyson focused on features that would make extracting these effective. The Dyson V6 Mattress has a powerful V6 motor, it features an antimicrobial HEPA filter that expels air cleaner than air we breathe and the V6 mattress is good for 20 minutes of use on a full charge.

I was surprised at the amount of gunk I was able to clean from various pillows, mattresses and cloth items. The Dyson V6 is light and easy to use and because it is so powerful, you can get a lot of cleaning done in a few passes.

It is interesting that vacuuming matresses and pillows wasn't something I'd considered doing before using the Dyson V6 but after seeing the results first hand and feeling that everything was cleaner and healthier. This is key if you have family members who have allergies, infants or young children or have pets which can shed dander or allergens.

Using the Dyson V6 on my home and my cars has made me more appreciative of keeping these areas clean regularly and using a specialized tool that's up to the task and designed for the specific challenges of vaccuming deep mattresses, pillows and foam and fabric makes a huge difference.
