Neptune Hub and Pocket screen coming in late 2015, offer new twist to wearables

Neptune, maker of the Pine wearable, is offering another variation to the smartwatch wearable market. Unlike most smartphone-connected smartwatches , the Neptune Duo does not need a smartphone in order function. The Neptune Hub operates with or without a Pocket screen.

The wrist wearable is a smartwatch that will feature a quad-core processor, as well as support for 3G/4G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and NFC and connectivity to the Neptune Hub which is much like a mouse, a keyboard, or a computer monitor, the Pocket screen is simply an interface for the Hub.

Neptune Hub lets users place calls, send and receive messages, glance at notifications, track fitness and more.

Pocket screen can act as a portable battery juice pack for the Hub, recharging it when it needs more power. With a combined battery capacity of 3,800 mAh, Neptune Duo can last a few days of normal usage on a single charge.
