Apple: HomeKit compatible appliances coming in June

We can expect Apple HomeKit smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) devices to begin shipping in June. HomeKit in a framework that allows iOS 8 devices to manage and control various home automation devices securely from a single app interface.

"HomeKit has been available for just a few months and we already have dozens of partners who have committed to bringing HomeKit accessories to market and we’re looking forward to the first ones coming next month,”  said Trudy Muller, a spokeswoman for Apple.

Mostly third party items like connected locks, lights, thermostats, alarms and swithces, these devices are expected to work seamlessly with iPads or iPhones runnimg  iOS 8.
