Windows 10 is coming on July 29, are you ready?

 

 

 July 29 is the day that Windows 10 will be made officially available to the world. The highly anticipated next generation of the Windows oprating system has the unenviable task of enticing current Windows 7, Windows 8 and earlier users to move to a whole new OS that adds more functionality while erasing some of the annoyances that have plagued earlier versions of Windows.

 Microsoft's endgame is to get 1 billion users on Windows 10 in the next 2 to 3 years. Microsoft is helping this cause by making the upgrade free for one year to existing Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 customers who have legal copies. Windows 10 is also a unified OS, meaning it will run optimized for PCs but will work efficiently on tablets and touch devices as well as on smartphones. The mobile version of Windows 10 is supposed to ship a few months after the desktop version has launched. The big features include the return of the Start Menu, the inclusion of the Cortana voice assistant as well as the Continuum feature that will easily adjust the OS to different scenarios (the most ambitious being a docked Windows Phone offering a desktop experience and UI with conncted monitors, keyboards and mice.
